_____________
Forty years ago was a struggle for our batch and for the country. We were fresh graduates from high school and full of dreams in our pockets and yet our surroundings were just calling for mere survival. We stood proud against that dictatorship - not even it can stand between us and our stars.
Batch _(year)_ was a youthful band of vulnerables, audience to how the country’s history was sculpted, spirits were cut up, and power was exploited. Overrated as it may seem now, survival was the everyday theme asked from fresh high school graduates. We were kids. Strive and struggle was necessary but amidst the national conflict, the young of 40 years ago managed to scramble and be victors. Even with the clenched sprightliness, suffocating frustration brought by dictatorship, our dreams were hot and heavy! Even that era failed to kill these dreams.
And so we succeeded to surpass that phase - both our young batch and the country and as all saying goes that the most beautiful and bountiful trees are those that grow in adversary - and so did we.
The most beautiful and bountiful trees are those that grow in adversary - and so did we.
Change is inevitable. Time does not favor anybody - yes we did get a little bit chunky here and there and less dashing as we once were (just a little bit), charismatic nonetheless but these are just the manifestations of our life history. We change as our stories prosper. And they are great stories.
We are now not only professionals in our chosen fields but we are now leaders. We are not only sons and daughters but are also fathers and mothers (grandparents even!). We are not only the hopeful dreamers but we are also active doers.
Changes made our lives and friendships made them bearable.
